Advice?? Shaw controllers are so clunky and 1990s-ish. After six months, the price would move up to $50 a month, which was still cheaper than the $55 I currently had to pay at Shaw. The service with them has been so good I would pay full price out of contract for it, and did for a while until my parents got Fiber as well, and since they are retired I always try to get them a deal, and then get the same deal with faster internet for myself (both accounts under my name). Thanks in advance.Never had any downtime since upgrading to fibre 2 years ago and full speed 24-7. shaw has 6 month 30 bucks now for 25 mbps but I hear it's more of a 'shared' coaxial community line and depends on how many people are on at that time of day so you are not guaranteed your full allotted mbps. No more hassle of having to remember to call twice a year and no haggling. I couldn’t be happier with the money I save.

I feel that I'm being screwed!! had several senior techs come to “ fix” the issue but no fixes every lasted. After you call in to negotiate and are happy with your monthly Internet fee, they will tell you how long their discount is available for. After that you’ll be stuck paying regular price again (read, $75 a month + tax or more) for your Internet.

It’s a hassle, I know. That will also mean that you will need to be prepared to jump ship and get a new service provider, potentially pay the installation fee, and wait for half of your work day for the Internet installer person to come and install your Internet.Yes, it’s a huge hassle! After six months, the price would move up to $50 a month, which was still cheaper than the $55 I currently had to pay at Shaw. The hardware is much nicer and newerI recently switched to Telus bundle from Shaw and after the first 6 months the costs jumped from $50/month to $160 and now I am locked in. Basic cable/home phone w/call display and not sure what internet.

Needless to say I quickly contacted Telus and am switching over. Making a phone call at regular intervals to Internet service providers is one way that I try to Ready? I loathe having to pay $75 a month + tax for Internet even though it’s pretty much a necessity for me (e.g. However, they are often prepared to offer 1 or 2 year deals, so do your research and be prepared to ignore the freebies. I tend to use around 130 GB a month and still watch a lot of movies and download quite a bit of data. Not sure how much data you will use in a month? Heeeelllllllpppp................. Literally zero issues for me. There's a Telus thread where people discuss what deals they've gotten. The usual hassles but in the end, quite polite. When I did phone to cancel, all Shaw could offer was $10 off my monthly bill, and some 'packages' free for a month or two (which means they'll start charging afterwards, so it's still a better benefit for them, as most forget, at least for that first month of being charged).

I was always fighting with them about it – they wanted us to bundle it but we didn’t want cable or a home phone. I have Telus Internet & Cable and it is down often which I rarely had with Shaw. These tips will be super helpful if/when we end up with an Internet bill again! I've been back and forth between Telus and Shaw for many years. Therefore, I have to resort to (seemingly desperate) negotiation tactics to save money on Internet. But, I will call them to see if I can bundle my home phone and get a better deal. You’ll likely be stuck paying $70+ a month for your Internet because you wanted that $500 Prepaid Visa (or whatever that gift they enticed you with).

My 2-year Internet 600 contract is ending so I scoped out what Telus had to offer. On the Telus website, the deal for both Internet and TV is already better. Unfortunately, the new wireless legislation doesn't seem to have affected the internet service providers and they are still able to offer and make you stick to a 3-year contract.Shaw’s strategy is to give the customer freedom and flexibility.

That’s a big step to drop the home phone, we don’t have a home phone either. Man, that must have pissed you off royally. 10: We didn’t start the Fyre FestivalViewer Experience podcast Ep. after 20+ years as a shaw customer and no call backs from tech support team in may as represented i finally cancelled service & went to telus fibre optic. Cool.

I find home insurance to be difficult to negotiate or adjust- I should look into it. Shaw knows if you don’t choose them you will be choosing their nearest rival instead and vice versa!I recently called Shaw after Telus had offered me one of their packages.

IPv6 works fine. Retention gave me 300mbps for $50, a TV package for $25, and free land line.<< Public Mobile, Uber Eats, Tangerine, Coast Capital, STACK user >>Good to know, I'll call them tomorrow. This is mandatory for strategic negotiations. You know those 2 year Optik TV and Internet bundle contracts where you get a $500 prepaid Visa or something for signing up? Telus offered me their Internet 15 package (150 GB usage for $30 a month), which was pretty much the same usage allowance I was getting with Shaw.

Cable is always a b*tch to pay for. Another thing to keep in mind is that by default Telus has 1 TB of data with unlimited for a fee while Shaw is unlimited by default.
