The acting was excellent, first of all. The fine line between a good teacher and an obsessive one is told in a sensitive manner Whether she was at home with her boring husband and kids or sitting in class and making you hate her actions, I was enthralled by the way she was bringing this character to life. This is possibly my ‘film of the year’ so far. Drama
Cinemark Young Jimmy Roy is the centrepiece for this story and although their scenes together are easily the best in the movie, the third act of this film feels very odd.

Not unnerving in that this woman is gonna have sex with this five-year-old boy, but unnerving in the things that she does in order to ensure that Jimmy's talent is guided by someone as, seemingly, he has no one in his life that seems to fully support his talent. | Rating: 4/5

| Rating: 4/5 The movie was weird. If a film is bad, it's within the filmmaking itself and the screenplay. Maggie Gyllenhaalï¿ 1/2(TM)s face is capable of so much compassion.
Maggie G was very good and she is an excellent actor and got into the part-a difficult one and was very accomplished. And, again, it's sort of ironic that she wants to nurture and cultivate this talent that Jimmy has while having none of that talent herself.
The main character had zero boundaries and was so inappropriate from the get go. Gyllenhaal plays the dotty dominie with a creepy grace and an entranced skill. Lisa is married and has two children, but, quite frankly, she is completely and utterly bored of her life.
You as the viewer are confronted with behaviour that you can probably relate to from your own life experiences but then magnify your own experiences and you get the behaviour in this movie. [Colangelo] has planed away the story's hard edges and given us a very earnest translation of what should have been a highly provocative theme.
There are so many ways your story can take a dramatic turn, but when the turn it takes is to simply exploit the talents of a young child for personal gain, I found that to be extremely distasteful as a premise.
But I think a good movie should do that to you - it should evoke a response from the viewer.
So you can see how she would take an immense interest in nurturing Jimmy's poetic talents and protecting him from the world that would just crush his talent and creativity.
