In this explosive story of revenge and urban violence, Charles Bronson plays Paul Kersey, a bleeding-heart liberal who has a change of opinion after his wife and daughter are violently attacked by a gang of thugs in their apartment. Bronson plays Paul Kersey, a man who is opposed to violence. An example is when the poor elderly couple had their pistol confiscated by the police in the 3rd movie, and were subsequently terrorized by the gang members, and the police didn't respond. This is region free as stated by a helpful poster, If, like me you have a Pioneer set-up, to get the film started press 'main menu', select 'scenes' and on chapter press '1' and off you go!
I got the US import as uncut, if you have not seen the film then you need to as it is one of the best vigilante films ever made, pretty violent and is still relevant today.

In Singapore, the film was initially passed uncut with an M18 rating; due to stronger instances of violence. I watched this movie for the first time a good number of year ago. However the distributors were unsatisfied with this rating and then opted to re-edit the film in order to secure the more commercially friendly NC-16 rating. A young Jeff Goldblum makes an appearance in the film as one of the attackers. I love the way Kersey how he tricks street people who want to hurt others and specially what happened to him and his family. The Australian DVD and Bluray have been heavily cropped to 1.78: 1 , altering the film's original 2.39; 1 aspect ratio. Lots of great supporting parts too, particularly Vincent Gardenia as the inspector who's on to Bronson's activities. Directed by Eli Roth. It was shot (no pun intended) in the 70's and I could walk out of my house and experience the same issues today in 2019.

Bronson is great as the vigilante Paul Kersey; colour is bright and vibrant, and picture overall is good. The uncut version was later released on home media formats.

Death Wish franchise is an American action-crime-drama film series based on the 1972 novel by Brian Garfield.The films follow the character Paul Kersey, portrayed by Charles Bronson in the original series, and Bruce Willis in the 2018 remake. Gang violence, drugs, robbery, muggings are all still happening almost 50 years later. I could relate to Paul Kersey's point of view then, and I can still relate to it today. Much clearer on blu-ray better than dvd for sure. A Death Wish Knight In Action. This is the story, although fictionalized, of a man who said "enough", and started fighting back in kind. Many thanks to the seller. Paul Kersey didn't ask for trouble, didn't make his family a target, and didn't ask for his family to be targeted, but when his family was targeted by street thugs and his wife was murdered, his daughter traumatized, and his life left in tatters, he said enough, stepped up to the plate, and gave back in spades!
