My last thermometer was extremely difficult to use and the instructions were difficult to understand. When it worked, it seemed to give fairly accurate readings except when the sensor apparently got dirty. Got the Braun Forehead Thermometer, BFH175 to do a review on and the fact that i have been wanting one of these types of thermonometers for a long time.
The BRAUN works fine. Save your money, buy something else, somewhere else, so you can return it in case you buy a lemon like this. I haven't been sick yet but have tried it a few times and the temperature reading is presented quickly and seemingly accurately. I took my temperature and it was accurate. Bottom line - can;t trust the measurements that it gives. About a week later, I decided to try it out on others and had the same result. Even worse, I went to return it and discovered it is NOT RETURNABLE per Amazon's return policy for some health products.

There is a great color indicator on this thermometer. PRT2000; PRT1000; Lens filters. Like someone said, it feels solidly made but that's about it. It has a large, easy to read screen with temperature guidance which changes the backlight from green to yellow to red depending on the temperature reading. Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. I do not recommend this product as it’s inaccurate It seemed pretty easy to use however, I got inconsistent readings by +/- 2F...that's not good, especially if you're running a fever...or not. I had the “old” style braun that you swiped across the forehead— and loved it. You are in RIGHT PLACE.

It's nice to be able to tell if my baby might have a high temperature before I take her temp rectally for an accurate result. Very disappointing especially because Braun brand name has a good reputation for quality products. Suspect. Once I started getting reading that were way off, I cleaned the sensor with a dry q-tip and it seemed to work fine after that. Nice and easy to use, but accuracy not good.
My advice for others is to try it for yourself and see how it works. I get consistent readings. I'm glad I did. 3 Thank goodness for this forehead thermometer! I changed the battery and now with fresh batteries (which I tested using a meter) the device doesn't power up. This thermometer is worth 5 stars. Amazon should pull this item My doctor's office uses this type of thermometer and it was so quick that I decided to replace our ear-thermometer (that never seemed to give a good reading). It's a balancing act: using this thermometer to get a close to accurate temp or invading my baby's space to get an accurate temp rectally.
